In Sorrento, on October 16th, the streets of the city center became the scene of a brutal attack that shocked the entire city. An 18-year-old was surrounded and beaten by a group of peers, suffering severe maxillofacial trauma that required several reconstructive surgeries. The prognosis was at least 3-4 months.
According to the investigations of the Carabinieri of the Sorrento Company, the young man had tried to defend a friend in a context of tension generated by trivial reasons: a question of jealousy related to the ex-girlfriend of one of the attackers. What could have been a simple argument degenerated into a ferocious beating. The victim, initially hit standing up, was knocked to the ground, where the group continued to attack with kicks and punches until she lost consciousness.
The investigations, started the following day thanks to the complaint of the victim's parents, allowed the identification of six young people aged between 18 and 20, all residents in the Sorrentine peninsula.
The reconstruction of the facts, based on testimonies and medical documentation, led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Torre Annunziata. The suspects are accused of serious personal injury aggravated by the number of participants.
