The Homeric Sorceress reveals herself within the walls of Macchiaroli Castle in Teggiano, where on Friday, November 29th, the first theater and music festival in the heart of the historic center, called "Teggiano Teatro," opens. Directed by Antonello De Rosa, the festival opens with the play "Circe... la donna," written and performed by De Rosa himself.
A Meeting of Myths and Theatre
The traveling show takes place in the evocative rooms of the Macchiaroli Castle and features actors from the historic Academy of Scena Teatro.

Circe: A Revisitation
Antonello De Rosa depicts Circe not only as a cruel sorceress, but as a lonely woman who seeks love and understanding. The play offers a deep look into the inner drama and strength of this complex literary character. Spectators are invited to discover different aspects of Circe, woman, lover, mother, and friend, through ten actors who embody her spirit and tell stories of pain and personal disappointments.
A Rewritten Narration
The figure of Circe has been revisited by authors such as Margaret Atwood and Madeline Miller, who have given new voice to this female archetype. De Rosa engages with these modern interpretations, blending tradition with a contemporary vision of a complex and powerful woman, portrayed as a "true Neapolitan" who embodies all the facets of Circe.
