Last night, a tragedy was averted in an apartment building in the center of Avellino. During a violent argument, a man attempted to stab his partner, a woman of Senegalese origin, who, along with her three young children—a boy and two girls—had taken refuge and barricaded herself in a room.
The woman then called for help from the balcony. The firefighters and the State Police immediately arrived. Meanwhile, the man had forced the door open and was about to attack the woman. The firefighters' timely intervention, using a ladder truck to reach the apartment, allowed law enforcement to enter and apprehend the man, who was later arrested.
The man was transferred to the Avellino prison Awaiting a preliminary hearing before the investigating judge. For the woman and her children, this is the end of a nightmare and a history of violence and abuse.

How scary, fortunately they intervened in time to avoid a tragedy. I hope the woman and her children can now live in peace and safety.
