A 40-year-old woman from Naples was arrested by the police for two scams committed against two 10-year-olds living in the province of Padua. The victims, deceived by a scam dating back to last summer, lost a total of XNUMX euros in cash and valuables.
The scammer's modus operandi followed the classic "family member arrested after a car accident" scheme. In this case, the victims were convinced that their daughters were involved. Through phone calls from a supposed law enforcement officer, the frightened elderly women were tricked into collecting sums of money to "cover the expenses of those injured in the accidents."
The forty-year-old then went personally to the victims' homes, located in the Mortise district and in Piazzola sul Brenta, to collect approximately 5 thousand euros in cash and valuables from each of them.
