In Naples, "Blue Movember" is an annual international prostate cancer prevention campaign aimed at men. The Local Health Authority Napoli 1 Centro has chosen to participate in this campaign through the San Paolo Hospital.
The Complex Operating Unit of Urology, directed by Dr. Dario Del Biondo, will carry out free prevention visits aimed at male citizens on Thursday 21 November from 8,30 to 12,30.
The prevention morning will be aimed at users who are over fifty years of age, who will take care to bring a PSA test. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among the Italian male population: it represents 19,8% of all cancers diagnosed in men.
In 2023 alone, 41 were estimated.

Early detection of urological problems allows for simpler, more effective, and less invasive treatments, increasing the chances of recovery. "November," explains General Manager Ciro Verdoliva, "is the month dedicated to male cancer prevention, and I want to reiterate the importance of prevention."
Early diagnosis allows for rapid intervention on a potential tumor and thus saves the patient's life. "Furthermore," Verdoliva continues, "thanks to the new surgical techniques currently available in our hospitals, patients can resume a normal life quickly (just think of the surgeries performed using robots or even minimally invasive techniques)."
Appointments will be held at Urology Clinic No. 5 on the ground floor of San Paolo Hospital in Naples. Appointments can be booked by email at urologia.sanpaolo@aslnapoli0centro.it.
