Tradition and innovation, music and theater, workshops and guided tours, reflections and celebrations will accompany Neapolitans and tourists during the Christmas holidays in Naples. The 'Altri Natali' festival returns from December 8 to 30, promoted by the Municipality of Naples, which continues along the line of understanding and welcoming the different realities that make up the fabric of the city, promoting intercultural dialogue and social cohesion.
The theme of the third edition is 'Birth and Rebirth'. The event presents itself as a broad, inclusive and plural narration of the cultural heritage of Naples and wants to be an invitation to explore its richness for an experience of collective rebirth.
“We have a program with events in all the Municipalities – said the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi – and inside the churches, a way to give a signal of rebirth to the city and to involve all the communities of our city with musical events, artistic installations and hopefully with a Christmas which increasingly represents a push towards the regenerated growth of our Naples".
Through a public notice, 18 projects were identified, including 5 festivals and 13 individual events, for a total of over 50 events developed in 8 Municipalities. “The festival is part of the broader Christmas program in Naples – underlined Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator for the cultural programming of the administration – and it is a festival that invades the city with some precise objectives: to spread culture throughout the municipal territory and in particular the suburbs and to involve children.
Everything is linked by the recovery of often forgotten places that become central”. Among the many initiatives, the installation 'Alter Oculus' by Fran Cerami in the church of Santa Croce and Purgatorio al Mercato; the Giro Giro Napoli – special Christmas which includes guided tours aimed at children.
There are also several musical initiatives, including 'Ri-Nati' aimed at young people between the ages of 14 and 18, born and raised in the city but children of migrants settled in Naples, who will participate in rap writing, songwriting and jem session workshops. "Through music - highlighted Ferdinando Tozzi, coordinator of music and audiovisual policies - we carry forward the concept of inclusion and rebirth and, therefore, we give an important social message".
