  1. Paolo Sorrentino's "Parthenope" has been awarded the 2024 Capri Cult Award during the 29th edition of Capri, Hollywood, which opens tomorrow on the island. At the end of the special screening, which will take place at 22 pm in the Auditorium Centro Congressi (free admission), actor Peppe Lanzetta, who plays Cardinal Tesorone, will receive the award.

This recognition is the second "Cult Award" given by the International Film Festival, following the one given to Johnny Depp's "Modì" starring Riccardo Scamarcio. "Parthenope," starring Celeste Dalla Porta, Gary Oldman, Stefania Sandrelli, and Silvio Orlando, is soon to be released in the United States, scheduled for February 7, distributed by the independent A24. American critics have described the film as the director's "love letter" to Naples.

The evocative images of the protagonists' youth, set between the Faraglioni, Tragara, and the sea off Punta Carena, are the film's strong points. The film will be distributed in many European countries in 2025, with a French release scheduled for January 8th via Pathé Distribution. In Italy, "Parthenope" has already grossed over €7 million, becoming the second hit of the season. In addition to Lanzetta, Marianna Mercurio (Zuzù) and part of the cast, including Luisa Ranieri, Isabella Ferrari, Dario Aita, Daniele Rienzo, and Marlon Joubert, will also be present at the festival.

I read the article about the film Parthenope and I find it interesting how a film can be awarded so quickly. I wonder if American critics really appreciated Sorrentino's work.
