Last Tuesday, a violent episode rocked the EAV line between Lauro, in the province of Avellino, and Nola, in the Naples area. A man attacked the bus driver, hitting him with punches and using the tip of an umbrella to injure his head and face, before fleeing.
The investigation was conducted by the officers of the Police Station of Laurel, who used images from cameras installed on the vehicle to identify the attacker. He is a 45-year-old resident of Taurano, now reported for aggravated injuries.
The incident sparked outrage among commuters and public transport staff, reigniting the debate over the safety of transport operators.

Yes, it is true that more attention and protection is needed for bus drivers. Too often we hear of assaults and we cannot ignore the problem of violence in public transport.
The episode is very worrying, but it is important that the authorities act seriously. I hope that this will not happen again and that safety will improve for everyone, especially for those who work in transport.
