Security will be strengthened on trains and in railway stations in Campania to counter the worrying phenomenon of attacks on railway staffThis was decided during a meeting of the Police Forces Coordination Committee, chaired by prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, following the latest episode of violence which occurred on 19th December on a company train Trenitalia.
During the meeting it was decided to intensify controls on board the convoys, in order to prevent further episodes of aggression.

The new resources will allow a overall strengthening of supervision on trains and in stations, increasing the presence of law enforcement to ensure greater protection for workers and passengers. “The safety of employees and travellers is an absolute priority – they underline from the Prefecture – and the arrival of additional Polfer agents will allow us to adopt more incisive preventive measures to avoid episodes of violence".
In addition to the staff strengthening, new facilities will be set up targeted control services and operational strategies to respond promptly to emergency reports. The new measures are part of a broader plan for the prevention and protection of the railway sector, which in recent months has been at the center of several critical issues related to safety.
