A golden eagle, a male weighing approximately 4 kg and with a 2-meter wingspan, was rescued thanks to the intervention of the Naples 2 North Local Health Authority and the collaboration of the Carabinieri. The animal had been found seriously injured in a countryside area in the province of Naples and subsequently entrusted to the Wild Animal Recovery Center of the Federico II University of Naples.
Intervention and Recovery
Veterinarians immediately stabilized the eagle's health, discovering that it had an identification ring and microchip, confirming its legal ownership. In less than 48 hours, the Local Health Authority, with the assistance of the Carabinieri of the CITES unit of the Naples Forestry Group, was able to locate the rightful owner, to whom the animal was returned.
