A life cut short by a vile act. Rocio Espinoza Romero, a 34-year-old woman, was hit and killed by a truck while she was crossing the pedestrian crossing in Milan's Portello neighborhood. The accident, which occurred around 9.45:XNUMX in the morning, shocked the community and sparked a wave of indignation.
Rocio, a Peruvian, was walking with her husband, their two one-and-a-half-year-old twins and their mother. The family was crossing Viale De Gasperi when a truck, with the traffic light green, hit them head-on. The impact was extremely violent: the woman died instantly, while the twins were slightly injured.
The truck driver, a 24-year-old Italian, did not stop to help, but fled. Thanks to surveillance cameras, the local police were able to identify him and track him down quickly in a quarry in Arluno. The man was arrested on charges of road homicide and failure to provide assistance.
According to initial reports, the truck driver, despite having a green light, should have paid more attention in a 90-degree turn with such a heavy vehicle. The local police commander stressed that accidents of this type almost always have a fatal outcome due to the weight of the vehicle.
Rocio's death has deeply shocked the community and reignited the debate on road safety and driver responsibility. The story of this young mother, torn from life in such a violent and unjust way, is a warning to all of us.
The accident occurred on Via Serra, at the corner of Viale Scarampo, around 9:45 this morning. The victim was of Peruvian origin. The mother is 59 years old. She was injured along with her children, who were just one year old. They are not in serious condition, they only suffered minor injuries. The victim died instantly. The family had gone out for a walk.
According to a report The Corriere della Sera, in the videos you can see the victim with the double stroller and the mother crossing and the truck that runs over everyone. According to the investigators, the heavy vehicle had the green light but for that turn towards Piazza Stuparich you still have to give priority to pedestrians. The local police officers searched for the person driving the truck throughout the province, examining the images from the video surveillance cameras in the area.
