An operation by the State Police led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Neapolitan, already known to the police, for improper use and falsification of payment instruments. The episode occurred yesterday during an extraordinary check in the area of the railway station of Central Naples and in the surrounding areas.
The agents of the Railway Police Department noticed the young man inside a shop in the station while he was trying to buy several virtual prepaid cards of a well-known circuit. At the time of payment, the attempt to use a debit card was rejected.
The police intervened immediately, discovering that the card used was registered to another person. The subsequent search led to the discovery of 40 more debit cards, all registered to different individuals. The 20-year-old was arrested on charges of illicit use and counterfeiting of payment instruments. Investigations are continuing to ascertain the origin of the cards and the possible involvement of an organized criminal network.
