Naples. The extraordinary control operations carried out by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons in the city and province continue. This morning, as part of these activities, the State Police arrested two men, aged 19 and 26, for illegal possession of common firearms, clandestine weapons with related ammunition, receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of drugs.
The blitz, conducted by the Flying Squad in the Mercato area, led to the search of the home of the two Neapolitan brothers. Inside, the agents discovered a veritable arsenal, consisting of: a .38 Special revolver loaded with 5 cartridges; a 6.35 caliber pistol with an 8-round magazine and erased serial number; a 9 caliber MaK pistol, also with an erased serial number and a 6-round magazine; a 9×21 caliber Caracal pistol with a 15-round magazine; a 9 caliber replica pistol without a red cap and with an erased serial number; a sawn-off shotgun without a serial number and butt plate; and a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun with a punched serial number.
In total, 531 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were found, including 173 blanks, along with a butterfly knife, a magnetic blue flashlight and approximately 2 kilograms of marijuana. The agents also seized 1.735 euros in cash, presumably the proceeds of the illegal activity, a precision scale, material for the maintenance of weapons and for packaging drugs.
During the operation, unpaid checks for a total value of 16.200 euros were also recovered, considered suspicious and now being examined by investigators.
The two brothers, already known to the police for specific precedents, were arrested and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The investigations continue to reconstruct any links with criminal organizations operating in the area.

The article highlights the very serious situation of drug and arms trafficking in Naples, but I wonder if there are preventive measures beyond controls. Let's hope the police can do more to prevent these crimes.
I agree with Amedeo, it is important not only to arrest but also to prevent. The community should be involved in these initiatives, perhaps with educational projects for young people on how to avoid wrong paths.
In fact, the problem is complex and a global approach is needed. The raids are useful but they do not solve the root of the issue of poverty and lack of opportunities for young people in Naples.
