Starting Wednesday, January 1, 2025, tolls on Italian highways will increase by 1,8%. The increase, announced by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, is linked to the planned rate of inflation for the new year. The increase will affect the 2.800 kilometers of network managed by Autostrade per l'Italia, including the sections that pass through Campania.

In particular, on the A3 Naples-Salerno section, managed by the concessionaire Salerno-Pompei-Napoli Spa, the increase will be slightly lower, equal to 1,67%. The Ministry has confirmed that there will be no changes for the other 22 motorway concessionaires in the country.
Mitigation measures for users
Autostrade per l'Italia has accepted the Ministry's request to maintain general discounts for motorists. This measure, if suspended, would have led to an overall increase of 3%, further increasing the economic burden for users.
The impact in Campania
The increases will also involve the main Campanian arteries managed by Autostrade per l'Italia and the Naples-Salerno. Although these are not significant increases, the increase will be felt in the pockets of motorists, who are already struggling with high fuel costs and vehicle maintenance costs.
Planned inflation continues to affect the motorway sector, but the Ministry reassures: the measures adopted aim to balance the maintenance needs of the network with the protection of users.
Here is the list of motorways affected by price increases in Campania:
- A1 Highway (Autostrada del Sole) Naples-Milan
A3 Naples-Salerno motorway
A16 Motorway (Two Seas Motorway) Naples-Canosa
Highway A30 Caserta-Salerno

I don't understand why they have to increase the tolls, the costs are already high and now they add this to it. Motorists are suffering because of the high fuel prices and now also because of the highways. It's not good.
That's true, but you also have to think that the roads need to be maintained. Even if the increases are inconvenient, perhaps they serve to ensure the safety of the infrastructure. A difficult situation to manage.
