An illegal garage was discovered and seized by the Carabinieri of the Marzano di Nola Forestry Unit in a peripheral area of the municipality of Laurel.

There were numerous people present on site hazardous waste: drums, used oil and dismantled car parts, all accumulated directly on the ground without the necessary environmental precautions, such as pre-filtering tanks and oil separation systems for waste water.
The area, of about 160 square meters, was immediately seized due to the total lack of authorizations required by current legislation on waste disposal and treatment. The operation is part of a series of intensified controls on the territory to combat illegal activities that put the environment and public health at risk.

The Carabinieri operation seems like a good thing, but there are many auto repair shops that work without authorization. I hope this situation will be resolved soon and there will be no more hazardous waste around.
