Montesarchio. A shocking tragedy has shocked the community of Montesarchio. Felice Ferretta, 73, died last Thursday at the Benevento civil hospital, after being admitted for a simple domestic fall. His family, entrusted to Studio3A, filed a complaint, triggering an investigation by the Benevento Prosecutor's Office for manslaughter.
It all started last December 10, when the elderly man was found on the floor at home due to a fall, probably caused by a withdrawal crisis. Transported to the Emergency Room of Fatebenefratelli, after a series of tests he was discharged with a diagnosis of a broken finger and a possible fracture to the nasal septum. However, his situation worsened in the hours that followed.
Brought back to the emergency room, Ferretta was found in critical condition: three broken ribs, a punctured lung and a large hematoma on his head. Despite resuscitation attempts, the man died in the afternoon.
The family expressed deep shock at what happened, raising questions about the handling of the case by the health workers. According to their reconstruction, the father would have suffered the most serious injuries inside the hospital, where he should have received adequate care.
The Public Prosecutor, Dr. Licia Fabrizi, has ordered an autopsy to clarify the causes of death and has opened an investigation file. The coroner in charge will have sixty days to file the report.
The story has caused great emotion and highlights the importance of proper healthcare, especially for the most fragile patients.
