Football in mourning, Alessandro Borghi from Modena dies at 24

The Modena football community mourns the passing of Alessandro Borghi, promettente calciatore di appena 24 anni, strappato troppo presto alla vita da una malattia contro cui lottava da oltre un anno.

Raised inAudax Casinalbo, Alessandro then played for five years in the youth teams of Modena, to continue his career with local companies such as Castelvetro, Sanmichelese e Sammaurese. In 2021 it had reached an international milestone by landing in Serie A in Gibraltar Glacis United, where he had shared the experience with his brother.

The news of his passing has left friends, teammates and the entire community stunned. TheAudax Casinalbo, where it all began, expressed his condolences with a heartfelt message: “An immense pain, a serious loss for the entire community of Casinalbo and for Audax. Alessandro was one of us, a young man who brought the name of our company high to the point of reaching international stages. We gather with affection around his family. Goodbye Alessandro, you will always be in our hearts.”

Alessandro Borghi was not only a football talent, but also a person deeply connected to his land. Claudio Bertolani, director of Audax, remembers him as a simple and always smiling boy: “He was very attached to Casinalbo, loved by everyone. Even when he no longer played with us, he often stopped by the field to say hello to his friends. It was impossible not to love him, his positive energy was contagious.”

After playing for several local teams, in 2021 Borghi followed his brother to Gibraltar, where they both played in the top flight with the Glacis United. An experience that had represented the pinnacle of his young career. Unfortunately, his return to Italy in 2022 marked the beginning of a personal battle against illness, which forced him to retire from football.
