On behalf of the Public Prosecutor of Naples, the State Police executed a custodial detention order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.
The operation led to the arrest of 9 people seriously suspected of attempted murder, carrying and possession of firearms in a public place, public intimidation and private violence, all crimes aggravated by the mafia methods provided for by article 416 bis 1 of the penal code.
Two of the suspects are untraceable and are actively sought. During the operations, law enforcement conducted house searches that led to the seizure of narcotics, including 7,3 grams of cannabis, 363 grams of cocaine packaged in over 100 packages, and cash.
The investigation, conducted by the Naples Flying Squad, arose from the attempted murder of Raffaele Frenna, which took place on November 5, 2023 in Piazza Mercato. The episode arose from an argument over trivial reasons in a club in the Posillipo neighborhood, which resulted in a series of intimidating acts between criminal groups of Spanish Neighborhoods and of the "New houses”. Frenna, a stranger to the facts, was the victim of an ambush because of his family relationship with one of the participants in the dispute.
The investigations allowed to identify not only the perpetrator of the ambush but also to outline the operations of a group of young people linked to the Contini clan, active in the Case Nuove area. The members of the group were immortalized several times in possession of firearms, also used for shooting in public places.
Some suspects are involved in the illicit use of cell phones inside the Secondigliano prison. In addition, one of the addressees of the order is accused of private violence, in conjunction with others, for a brutal attack that occurred on May 15, 2022 against customers and managers of the restaurant “Cala La Pasta” in via Tribunali. For this episode, on June 13, 2022, affiliates at the top of the Contini clan had already been arrested, including Patrizio Bosti Jr., sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment with a final sentence.
During the searches, narcotics and large sums of money were found at the home of one of the arrested.
