Alex Meret, Napoli goalkeeper, is not looking for excuses after the draw against Lazio. Speaking to Radio Crc, a partner station of SSC Napoli, the Azzurri number one analyzed the team's performance, highlighting the positive aspects but also the critical points to be corrected.
"We got into their penalty area many times, but we were inaccurate and clinical. We need to improve in this area, especially against teams that defend well like Lazio. We lacked a bit of desire to score: when we create so many chances, we need to capitalize on them better."Said Meret, underlining the need to be more concrete in front of goal.
Despite the result, the goalkeeper wanted to see the glass half full: "Overall, it was a good match. We kept possession for most of the game, trying to put the opponent in trouble and creating danger. Our defense was also good: we conceded little, but they were good and even a little lucky with a deflection that led to the goal."
The focus, however, is already turned to the next challenge: "We need to work on our mistakes and build on the good things we've done. Let's not think about the standings; it's a tough league with many competitive teams at the top. We need to approach every match with the same attitude and keep up."
Meret wanted to thank the fans, who supported the team until the end: "Their support was amazing; it pushed us to try until the end. We need them. I urge them to continue supporting us and cheering us on: together we can always do better. Starting next week, we need to get back to winning ways to make them happy."
