Casavatore. The vice Prefect of Naples, Giovanni Lucchese is the new prefectural commissioner of the municipality of Casavatore. The Festa dei Gigli is under observation, politicians are trembling. It comes after the dissolution of the city council following the motion of no confidence of the councilors who sent home early the mayor Luigi Maglione, who concluded his mandate a year and a half early.
Sixty-five years old, with a degree in Law, Lucchese boasts experience around Italy at the Prefectures of Grosseto, Naples, Foggia, Caserta, where he held numerous positions including that of Extraordinary Commissioner at the municipality of Cesa, Prefectural Commissioner at the municipality of Melito, Casandrino, Monte di Procida and Casavatore, Extraordinary Commissioner at the municipality of Anzano di Puglia (2008) and Extraordinary Commissioner at the municipality of Torremaggiore (2010).

From today he will lead the municipality of Casavatore until the elections. Lucchese returns to the city after having been at the helm of the municipality following the dissolution of the institution in 2015 in which the Iron Prefect had approved the Anti-Mafia regulation to avoid Camorra infiltration in the historic kermesse. Regulation that in recent years would have been continuously violated. Also on the table is the bureaucratic management of the institution.

The appointment of the new prefectural commissioner seems like a positive thing, but there are many doubts about how Lucchese will handle the situation. The lily festival is important, but politicians must be more responsible to avoid problems.
