Great success for “Natale in casa Cupiello” at the Teatro Supercinema in Castellammare. A triumph also announced by the overflowing participation of the public, which sold out in a very short time, confirming a warm presence in the hall on 6/7/8 December.
The masterpiece of Neapolitan theatrical tradition was masterfully brought to the stage by the Compagnia Oplontis Teatro di Torre Annunziata. Leopoldo Speranza, director and magnificent interpreter of the character of Luca Cupiello, together with his formidable cast of actors, literally captured the attention of the audience thanks to an intense interpretation, capable of evoking the soul of Eduard's Christmas.
Set in a magical and engaging atmosphere, the show proved to be an excellent combination of tradition and innovation in which smiles and tears, perfectly balanced, animated the characters with a lovely lightness. In fact, Oplontis Teatro characterized what can already be defined as a tragedy dressed as a comedy, with the renowned caricatural ease that distinguishes it and for which, for twenty-five years, it has gained the favor of audiences not only in the Campania region.
This theatrical reality, born from the idea and passion shared by its founders—the late Beniamino Bisogno and director and performer Leopoldo Speranza—has performed on the stages of prestigious Neapolitan theaters such as the Bellini, the Cilea, and the Sannazzaro, but has also expanded its horizons beyond the borders of our region to bring its art to the Lazio region.
The captivating scenography, completely faithful to the setting of the period, provided the appropriate framework within which the actors, skilfully defined in the guise of their characters, unleashed their personal qualities of creativity and professionalism, amplifying the emotions of a particularly involved and passionate audience.
Three acts that have therefore entertained and made us reflect at the same time. Because Natale in casa Cupiello is a theatrical construction full of humanity, but it is also an expression of the classic tragic humor of Eduard.
The Oplontis Teatro company has expertly brought memorable characters to life, characters that still strike a deep chord with the human soul. Leopoldo Speranza, a passionate and experienced actor, portrayed Lucariello's spontaneous and uncontrollable generosity—as well as his obsession with the nativity scene and Christmas traditions—in a hilarious and irresistible way. Stefania Lamberti, in the role of a formidable and intense Concetta, admirably brought out the humorous yet dramatic flair of her complex and celebrated character.
Tommasino, son of the Cupiellos, brought on stage by an exceptional Roberto Nolano, added joy and lightness to the show. Mimmo Anastasio, with the legendary Pasqualino, brother of Lucariello, as well as the target of the indomitable Tommasino, delighted the audience with the captivating comedy of his victim mentality.
Furthermore, a brilliant Maria Rosaria Pellino, with great energy and empathy, realistically immersed herself in the role of Ninuccia, the tormented yet romantic daughter of the Cupiellos, longing for her freedom.
Excellent performances by Ludovica Verdoliva, Giovanni Farnese, Mariarosaria Tarantino, Francesca De Pascale, Gianmario Savastano, Loretana Manna, Mario Scarpa, Peppe Moretto, who with their characters have provided significant contributions to the intrigue of the story and its consequent development, adding further value to it.
Also worthy of note is the charitable connotation that the company usually attributes to its shows. Part of the ticket sales, net of expenses incurred for the success of the theatrical events, is donated to AIRC, the Italian Association for Cancer Research. A gesture of sensitivity, which beyond the amount, increases the value of an activity carried out with merit, as a result of great passion and spirit of self-denial.

Theatrical art is truly a beautiful thing and seeing how the audience responded to Christmas at Cupiello's house, it really seems like it was a great success. The characters seem to have great depth and the story seems interesting.
