The dismantling operations of the 45 illegal structures, including kiosks and gazebos, which illegally occupied various areas of the municipal territory of Pompeii, near the entrances to the Archaeological Park, were concluded this morning. These structures had already been seized on October 7th.
The removal took place in execution of the preventive seizure order issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Torre Annunziata, at the request of the Oplontina Prosecutor's Office. This intervention was necessary to interrupt the crime of invasion of public land, hypothesized by the Prosecutor's Office, which would have continued if the structures had remained in place without any authorization.
The restoration work was carried out by the Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata Company, with the support of the Municipality of Pompeii, which entrusted the work to a specialized company.

The investigations of the Public Prosecutor's Office have highlighted that the illegal structures, used for sales near the archaeological excavations and present for decades, were permanently anchored to the ground. This made them non-removable and determined a permanent illegal occupation of public land. Furthermore, they had been built in violation of the restrictions imposed on areas of historical-archaeological interest and without the necessary concession titles.
The area, now freed from illegal kiosks and gazebos, has been returned to the Municipality of Pompeii, which is its rightful owner.
