It was concluded at Napoli the conference "General States of Accessible Cinema“, hosted at the Salone Francesco Coppola, headquarters of UICI Campania. The meeting, supported by the Allelammie association, the Campania Region and the Film Commission Regione Campania, offered an important opportunity for discussion between professionals, institutions, associations and the public on the topic of accessibility for blind and partially sighted people in the audiovisual sector.
MovieReading App Presentation
The event introduced the MovieReading application, which is proposed as an innovative solution to promote inclusivity. The app offers audio description and subtitling features, allowing users to enjoy an accessible experience for free. The morning session saw the presentation of the results of a survey launched last June, which examined regulations, technologies and organizational models at national and international level.
Inclusion as a strategic resource
The conference highlighted the importance of considering accessibility as a strategic resource in the audiovisual industry, enhancing the contribution of people with disabilities. Rocco Calandriello, Director of CIAV, emphasized the need to integrate accessibility into cultural and audiovisual policies. Claudia Liguori of the Film Commission Regione Campania expressed her commitment to supporting incentives for accessible productions.
Role of legislation and instruments
Vera Arma, Director of Artis-Project, reiterated the importance of the Italian legislative framework and tools such as MovieReading to realize the right to accessibility. The meeting marked a significant step towards the promotion of cultural accessibility, involving a wide spectrum of associations and organizations in the sector.
