On the eve of the challenge of Coppa Italia against Lazio, the Napoli coach Antonio Conte held a press conference in which he reiterated his long-term vision for the club, placing emphasis on the growth of the team and the management of the entire squad. “The most important match is Thursday's against Lazio. I will make some choices because we have a lot of players in the squad”, declared Conte, underlining the importance of everyone's contribution, not just the owners: “Our good start is not only due to the 12-13 players who played the most, but also to those who, despite not taking to the field, maintained a high level in training.”
The goal for Conte is clear: to build and grow through play. “This year, having only the championship and the Italian Cup is a limitation, but we must take advantage of every opportunity to test the progress of those who have played less. It is fundamental for us, for the players and for the club”, has explained.
Conte highlighted the importance of avoiding muscle injuries, praising the work done so far by his staff: "Up to now we have been good at avoiding them, but tomorrow will be a test for those who have played less. We are approaching the match with great commitment and a desire to grow." Particular focus was given to James Raspadori, often at the centre of fans' expectations: "He's an intelligent player, he deserves more space and raises the quality of his dribbling and conclusions. Tomorrow will be the opportunity to see him from the start, like many others. I need to check him on the field."
Conte then looked to the future of the Napoli project: “At the end of the year I will be happy if we have laid solid foundations to be ambitious. We must not only focus on results and the standings, but understand if we are building something lasting. Even a victory can be ephemeral if there is no solid project. The real satisfaction will come when we systematically fight for something important”.
Finally, Tale he mentioned the possibility of organizing international friendlies: "I thought about facing teams that don't play in the cups, but it's difficult. You have to make a virtue of necessity with these two competitions." The message is clear: build today to win tomorrow, with the awareness that success is based on solid foundations and not just on the moment.
