A metal plate presumably used to support air conditioning units fell from the apartment late this afternoon, striking a Georgian woman in the head. She is now hospitalized in serious condition at Cardarelli Hospital.
The 43-year-old woman is in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Cardarelli Hospital after being struck in the head by a metal plate that fell from the second floor of a building in Piazza Garibaldi, Naples. Local police officers belonging to the San Lorenzo operational unit identified the owners and managers of the commercial activities present in the building, as well as the residents, acquiring "useful information - it is underlined - to identify those responsible".
At the same time, with the support of the staff of the local police operations centre, images from the video surveillance cameras installed near the intersection between Piazza Garibaldi and Via Milano, to reconstruct the exact dynamics. An eyewitness reported seeing a person on the balcony from which the metal object fell, "providing details," investigators say, "that contributed to the advancement of the investigation."
Investigations appear to point to a deliberate act, perhaps carried out during an argument. Attention is focused on another woman, a Ukrainian citizen, whose whereabouts are now being investigated by the authorities.
