Cusano Mutri. Christmas misadventure for two Neapolitan families, trapped in their cars due to heavy snowfall in Bocca della Selva, a mountain village in the territory of Cusano Mutri. Seven people, including several children, lived through hours of anguish before being rescued by firefighters.
The families had set out with the intention of spending Christmas Eve at a hotel in Campitello Matese. However, following the directions of the satellite navigator, they took the provincial road that connects Bocca della Selva to Campitello, a difficult route and particularly dangerous in adverse weather conditions.
Having reached the area on the border between Sannio and Molise, the two Fiat Pandas they were travelling in were stuck due to the ice and snow accumulated on the roadway, while an icy wind made the situation even more critical.

Fortunately, no one involved was physically injured, but the episode highlighted the importance of choosing safe routes and being informed about road conditions in bad weather. A Christmas Eve to remember, fortunately without serious consequences.

It's a strange thing that the families were trapped in the cars, I don't understand why they took that road, there was so much snow and ice too. I hope they learn from this misadventure and don't do it again.
