Eboli. Notice of closure of preliminary investigations for the tragic accident in Campolongo, in the province of Salerno, in which the child of just 13 months, Francesco Pio D'Amaro, was brutally killed by two pitbulls, owned by Gaia Sabato and her ex-partner Fabio Fiorillo.

The incident occurred on April 21, when the child was in the garden of his uncle's house, where the dogs had been temporarily fostered. The attack was sudden and violent, and there was nothing that could be done for the child.

The investigation, conducted by Deputy Prosecutor Alessandro Di Vico, led to the issuance of a notice of closure of the preliminary investigation against Sabato and Fiorillo, charged with manslaughter.

According to the prosecution, the two dog owners acted with negligence and recklessness, entrusting their animals to people unqualified to handle them and failing to take necessary safety measures. In particular, the pit bulls were known for their aggression, having previously killed another dog.

The dynamics of the attack

The autopsy revealed very serious injuries to the child's body, consistent with a vicious and prolonged attack. The violence of the attack was so severe that it caused the child's almost immediate death.

The investigations

The investigation revealed that the two pit bulls were roaming freely in the home's garden, unsupervised. This allowed the attack, which occurred in a matter of moments, to occur.
