The judges excluded the aggravating circumstances of cruelty and stalking contested by the Prosecutor's Office in Filippo Turetta. The premeditation one was recognized instead.
Turetta was found guilty "of the crimes attributed to him" "excluding having acted with cruelty and having committed the crime" of stalking against the victim, said Stefano Manduzio, president of the Assize Court of Venice, in reading the sentence.
For the murder of Giulia Cecchettin, Turetta was also sentenced to pay the legal costs and prison costs and to a permanent ban from holding public office.
