President Dario Vassallo: “A step forward for the future of Cilento, development without waste and respect for the environment”
The Angelo Vassallo Sindaco Pescatore Foundation expresses full satisfaction with the decision of the Cipess (Inter-ministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development) to revoke the PNRR funds earmarked for the construction of the motorway link road Agropoli-Eboli. This choice confirms the validity of the criticisms raised by the Foundation: the project was superfluous, non-strategic and risked compromising the territory.
“The revocation is a decisive step to avoid a waste of public money and to invest in initiatives that are truly necessary and respectful of the territory,” says Dario Vassallo, President of the Foundation. “Cilento does not need new invasive infrastructures, but solutions that respond to the real needs of local communities, protecting the natural and cultural heritage.”
The Foundation believes that the funds released should be allocated to a project of great strategic value, capable of promoting the development of the internal areas of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park. This project, known as the “Park Road”, would improve connections between the internal areas and the coast, helping to combat depopulation and promote a sustainable growth model, based on the enhancement of local resources and respect for the environment.
To ensure transparency and legality in the management of public resources, the Foundation proposes that procurement procedures be supervised by the Prefecture of Salerno, with an operational role assigned to the Guardia di Finanza. This measure would ensure effective management free from irregularities, for the benefit of the community.
“We must seize this opportunity to redefine the future of Cilento, focusing on infrastructures that respect the identity of the territory and are useful to its inhabitants,” concludes Vassallo. “It is time to act with foresight and responsibility.” The Angelo Vassallo Foundation renews its commitment to the defense and sustainable development of Cilento, for the benefit of present and future generations.
