La di a , closed for two years for twenty-year maintenance, will reopen "by January 31, 2025", according to what was announced by the ANM. The latter confirmed the advance given by Fanpage.it, but the reactivation could also take place between January 10 and 20. The funicular was closed in October 2022 to allow for revision and modernization works, mandatory by law.

Technical note from Anm: “Works finished, now the testing”

The overhaul works are complex and articulated, as specified by the ANM. “All the civil and electromechanical works, as well as the complete replacement of the engine room, are practically finished.” Currently, functional tests are underway with officials from Ansfisa, the National Agency for Railway Safety, who have already verified the equipment necessary for reopening. Braking tests are also planned in the coming days, which are essential for the safety of the operation.

Reopening to the public expected by January 2025

The Technical No Objection, produced by Ansfisa at the end of the tests, “will start the pre-operation period at full load”, simulating a service in crowded conditions. If there are no technical problems, the Chiaia Funicular will be able to resume regular service by January 31.
