At the Teatro Tasso in Sorrento, a celebration of Italian cinema will come to life with a festival that will take place from 13 to 27 December. The project, directed by Massimiliano Gallo, is organized by Ufficio K and receives the financial support of the Campania Region – Film Commission.

The protagonists of the big screen
The “Gli Indimenticabili del Cinema Italiano” review will offer the opportunity to revisit ten historic films that have helped shape the country’s cinematic imagination. Among the talents presented are icons such as Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio De Sica, Gian Maria Volonté, Mariangela Melato, Alberto Sordi, Anna Magnani, Vittorio Gassman, Nino Manfredi, Massimo Troisi and Totò. In addition to screenings, the event will include workshops and meetings with industry professionals.
Opening with Fellini and Mastroianni
The festival will open on Friday, December 13 at 10:30 with the screening of “La dolce vita” by Federico Fellini, remembering Marcello Mastroianni. This cinematic masterpiece, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, is known for its story of Rome in the XNUMXs and for the performances of Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg.
Projection program
Following the opening, on December 14 at 10:30 it will be the turn of “In the Year of Our Lord” by Luigi Magni, with Nino Manfredi. On December 15, at 10:30, the tribute will go to Totò with “Guardie e Ladri” by Mario Monicelli and Steno. In the following days, among the titles proposed there will be “An American in Rome” with Alberto Sordi, “Rome, Open City” with Anna Magnani, and “Swept Away by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August” with Mariangela Melato. Gems such as “Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion” and “The Great War” will be part of this cinematic itinerary, up to the touching “Il Postino” with Massimo Troisi.
The festival will end on December 27 with “Pane, amore e…” by Dino Risi. The screenings are open to the public free of charge until all available seats are filled.
