The winners of the 49th edition of the Laceno d'Oro International Film Festival

The 49th edition of the Laceno d'Oro International Film Festival in Avellino offered a wide range of screenings and prestigious awards. Held at the former Eliseo cinema, the event paid tribute to French director Arnaud Desplechin, awarding him the "Laceno d'Oro 49" Lifetime Achievement Award. A special tribute was given to author and actor Valerio Mastandrea.

### Golden Lace 49

The main prize in the "Laceno d'Oro 49" section was awarded to Kazuhiro Soda's "The Cats of Gokogu Shrine." The jury, composed of directors Massimo D'Anolfi and Antonio Piazza, and producer and distributor Gaël Teicher, praised the film for its ability to convey emotion through a unique approach, awarding it a prize of €3000.

### Eyes on the city

In the section dedicated to short films about urban spaces, "Quando a Terra Foge" by Frederico Lobo won the €1500 prize. The jury appreciated the short film for its narrative immersion, where time and nature play a key role.

### Campania Space

In the "Spazio Campania" category, Isabella Mari's film "Si dice di me" received acclaim for its narrative exploration of female emancipation. A special mention went to Edgardo Pistone's "Ciao Bambino" for its unique depiction of Naples.

### Awards and special mentions

Among other honors, the Red Couch Award was given to Eleonora Mastropietro's "Cianuro." The Supercinema Award for Excellence in Cinema Design went to Marie-Magdalena Kochová's "3MWh." Furthermore, the popular jury awarded Farah Kassem's "We Are Inside" and Luca Ciriello's "Oltre Ischia" in the Laceno d'Oro 49 and Spazio Campania sections, respectively. The event, supported by the Circolo ImmaginAzione of Avellino, was sponsored by several institutions and companies, confirming its position as a cornerstone of neorealist and documentary cinema in Italy.

I agree that they should give more space to Italian directors, our cinematography has a lot to offer and deserves more visibility. I hope that next year things will change.

The Laceno d'Oro event was very interesting, but I don't understand why there aren't more films by Italian authors. It would be nice to see more Italian works in such important festivals.
