A construction entrepreneur from Giugliano in Campania showed exemplary courage, managing to foil an extortion attempt by a member of the Camorra during the implementation of fiber optics in Arzano. Faced with threats and intimidation, including the display of firearms, the man chose not to give in to blackmail and to turn to law enforcement.
Thanks to his timely report, the investigators of the Flying Squad of the Frattamaggiore Police Station, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, were able to track down the alleged extortionist and gather irrefutable evidence against him. Yesterday morning, a custodial order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples led to the arrest of the man.
The investigations under the direction of the director of the Frattamaggiore police station, Nicola Donadio, allowed us to reconstruct in detail the dynamics of what happened. The entrepreneur said he had been subjected to increasing pressure from the extortionist, who had asked him for a bribe in exchange for "protection". Faced with the victim's refusal, the man allegedly proceeded to threaten him and show him his weapons, in order to intimidate him and force him to give in to his demands.
