The Court of Auditors of Campania has issued a ruling against the governor Vincenzo De Luca, imposing compensation of 609 thousand euros to the Campania Region. The conviction is related to the production of regional smart cards, considered as "a useless duplicate of the national green pass".
The investigations were conducted by the economic-financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, under the supervision of the accounting public prosecutors Davide Vitale and Mauro Senatore. The court's decision is based on the consideration of the conduct of De Luca as if malicious.
The case has raised several questions about the efficiency and management of regional resources in relation to the health emergency. Reinforcing attention to the need for careful control in the use of public funds, the case represents a significant episode for the Campania administration.
