The seventeen year old Mimi Caruso è la nuova vincitrice di X Factor.
Mimì's victory, chosen by Manuel Agnelli, represents an important milestone for the talent and for the young artist. The final, full of emotions and twists, saw music and talent triumph, giving the audience an unforgettable evening.
The young singer Mimì triumphed in the final, beating the other finalists: Les Votives (second), I Patagarri (third) and Lorenzo Salvetti (fourth). An edition that, episode after episode, has been able to renew itself, giving new energy to the format. This success has convinced Sky to renew the talent show, now considered sold out, for another two seasons.
Part of the credit also goes to the four judges – Manuel Agnelli, Achille Lauro, Jake La Furia and Paola Iezzi – and to Giorgia’s hosting, whom the public appreciated for her qualities as a “good presenter”.
Mimì's victory, against all odds, was a surprise: after the semifinal, she had gone from being the favorite to occupying the last place. However, under the guidance of Manuel Agnelli, who achieved his first success after six years as a judge, she managed to impose herself on the final night. Achille Lauro, on the other hand, entered the history of the program by bringing all the members of his team to the final for the first time.
Another novelty of this edition was the choice to host the final “outdoors” in the suggestive setting of Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples. An extraordinary show that required an impressive production effort: 1.000 square meters of stage, 500 square meters of video wall, 1.000 light fixtures, a dance troupe of 40 dancers for over 20 performances, 200 costumes, special effects and fireworks. Sixteen thousand spectators watched live, while the broadcast was followed on Sky Uno, in streaming on NOW and free-to-air on TV8.
The evening was enriched by the presence of special guests. Robbie Williams opened the show with his new single Forbidden Road and, halfway through the evening, he returned to the stage with a medley of his hits, also providing a fun moment with Giorgia. There was no lack of an Italian touch: Gigi D'Alessio thrilled the audience with a medley of his songs and a tribute to Pino Daniele with Napule è.
The competition was divided into three rounds: in the first, the finalists chose the song that best represented them (Lorenzo with Cosa mi manchi a fare by Calcutta, Mimì with Because The Night by Patti Smith, I Patagarri with Cam-Camini' from Mary Poppins and Les Votives with Someone Like You by Adele). The second round saw the contestants perform their “Best Of”, while the third was dedicated to unreleased songs. The evening ended with a collective celebration on stage, with confetti, hugs and tears of joy.
