Naples.
Sunday 29 December, at 18:00 pm, the Archdiocese of Napoli will officially launch the Jubilee Year with a solemn celebration that will involve the entire city.Starting from the Church of the Holy Apostles, an evocative procession will wind its way to the Cathedral, carrying with it a powerful symbol: the Lampedusa Cross, made with wood from migrants' boats. This cross, which has already touched many places, will be exhibited throughout the Jubilee Year in the Cathedral of Naples, inviting reflection on solidarity and hospitality.
At the Cathedral, the Cardinal Archbishop Don Mimmo Battaglia will preside over the rite of opening of the Holy Door, a symbolic gesture that marks the beginning of a time of grace and forgiveness. Following this, there will be a solemn Eucharistic concelebration, animated by an inter-parish choir of about 200 members.
A unique opportunity for the community
“This Jubilee represents an opportunity for our entire community to come together, to reflect on our journey and to start again with renewed enthusiasm,” said Archbishop Battaglia. “I invite all the faithful, but also those who simply wish to participate in this moment of great spirituality, to join us in the Cathedral.”
