Mario Tessuto, born Mario Buongiovanni, passed away at the age of 81, leaving behind a musical legacy of great successes. Born on September 7, 1943, in Pignataro Maggiore, in the province of Caserta, Tessuto began his career as a barber, while cultivating a deep passion for music. It was thanks to his friendship with Livio Macchia, singer and guitarist of the Camaleonti, that he found the opportunity to perform live.
Her major debut came in 1968 at Cantagiro with the song "Ho scritto fine," written by Don Backy. However, success came the following year, in 1969, with "Lisa dagli occhi blu," a romantic and catchy song written by Giancarlo Bigazzi and Claudio Cavallaro. The song, which came in second at Un disco per l'estate, quickly became one of the best-selling songs of the year and a symbol of Italian music in the 60s.
The song's triumph also inspired the homonymous musical, directed by Bruno Corbucci, a cinematic genre that featured famous artists and their songs, reflecting on the youth trends of the time and their relationship with the adult world.

In 1970, Mario Tessuto participated in the Sanremo Festival together with Orietta Berti, presenting the song “Tipitipitì”. In the same year, he took part in a historic event for Italian pop music: the famous cavalcade from Milan to Rome, organized by Mogol and Lucio Battisti between June 21 and July 26.
In the following years, he continued to leave his mark on Italian music. In 1975 he recorded “Rivoglio lei”, the Italian version of Eric Carmen’s hit All by Myself, with lyrics by Cristiano Minellono. Tessuto also worked as a songwriter for other artists: in 1976 he wrote “Meglio libera” for Loredana Bertè and in 1984 “Utopia” for Pascal.
An artist who, with his talent and sensitivity, has crossed decades of Italian music, giving emotions that will remain alive in the hearts of the public.
