The military personnel of the Roccarainola Forestry Carabinieri Unit, as part of the “Rinascita fiume Sarno” campaign, carried out an investigation on a property in the countryside of the municipality of Striano (Naples) where a 47-year-old man was carrying out maintenance on rides and vehicles.
The control activity revealed critical issues relating to the methods of storage and management of waste deriving from the activity, as special waste, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, such as wood, packaging plastic, ferrous metals, sheaths, disused vehicles and clothing, construction waste, lead batteries, disused household appliances and bulky urban waste.
The waste, in large quantities, was left on the land, and therefore the entire area of approximately 1.300 square meters was seized. The business owner and manager of the land, located within the Sarno River Basin Regional Park, was reported for violations under the Environmental Code.

It is a worrying situation that of abandoned waste, especially in a protected area such as the Sarno River Basin Park. It would be important for the authorities to take strict measures to prevent these situations in the future.
