Canzone napoletana e dintorni, a series of meetings that promotes the Neapolitan musical tradition, continues its journey until May 2025. Organized by the Napulitanata association, the project is supported by the Campania Region and takes place at the space of the same name under the Galleria Principe di Napoli.

Tribute to Salvatore Di Giacomo
The next event, entitled “The prismatic Salvatore Di Giacomo … and surroundings”, will be held on December 14. The event is dedicated to the famous Neapolitan author and poet, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of his death. Among the participants, Maria Iannotti, Domenico Antonio D'Alessandro, Claudio Pennino and Gianni Lamagna will explore Di Giacomo's contribution in the contexts of library, music and poetry. Iannotti will analyze his role as a librarian at the National Library of Naples, while D'Alessandro will focus on his work for the Neapolitan song of the 600th century. The evening will be enriched with the interventions of Claudio Pennino and Gianni Lamagna, respectively on the artistic value and the contemporary interpretation of Di Giacomo's works.
Program of future initiatives
The “Canzone napoletana e dintorni” initiative will host several scholars and artists in the coming months, including Salvatore Architravo and Antonio Pragliola, who will present a short film dedicated to Eugenio Pragliola. Subsequently, on January 25 Simona Frasca, professor of Ethnomusicology, will speak, followed by Anita Pesce on February 22. On March 15 Antonio Raspaolo will speak, while Raffaele di Mauro is expected on April 12. The review will conclude in May 2025 with the intervention of the composer and musicologist Pasquale Scialò. The event is a step towards a greater understanding of Neapolitan culture, exploring the roots and evolution of Neapolitan song through activities of in-depth study and cultural sharing.
