The mayor of Salerno, Vincenzo Napoli, has issued an ordinance that prohibits the use of fireworks, firecrackers and other explosive materials throughout the municipal area from December 24 to January 7. The goal is to protect public health, the safety of animals and ensure a more peaceful environment during the holidays.
Excluded from the ban are “miccette” and authorized fireworks displays. Anyone who does not comply with the ordinance risks a fine of up to 500 euros.
According to the ordinance, it is forbidden to sell, on an itinerant or non-itinerant basis, any type of fireworks, firecrackers, mortars and other explosive materials and in any case the so-called "freely sold" or "declassified" fireworks.

The mayor was right to ban fireworks, because there are too many people who do not respect the rules. But perhaps it would also be better to better inform people about which materials are allowed and which are not.
