From Monday 9 December, the State Comprehensive Institute Giampietro-Romano of Torre del Greco will inaugurate theOpen Week, a week of events dedicated to the community, with the aim of enhancing the cultural roots of the territory and looking to the future with enthusiasm. The head teacher Rosaria Colantuono, together with the teaching staff and students, expressed great satisfaction for this initiative, the result of daily teaching oriented towards growth and discovery.
The Open Week will offer a journey through local traditions and global perspectives. The program includes creative workshops, musical performances and interactive activities that will involve students of all ages and will open a space for discussion with the territory. The opening will be dedicated to Primary school, which on Monday 9 December will tell the story of Lucrezia d'Alagno and King Alfonso of Aragon, a love born right in Torre del Greco.
Through a journey that ranges from traditional crafts such as cameo engravers to farmers who create the famous “piennoli” of Vesuvian tomatoes, the cultural roots of the city will be highlighted. On Tuesday 10 December, the Christmas atmosphere will envelop the public with the Concert of Christmas of the Institute's orchestra, which promises to offer a moment of emotion and warmth through music.
Wednesday, December 11, the Secondary school will propose the theme “Beyond the Horizon”, a set of workshops that will explore science, technology and dreams projected towards the future. It will also be an opportunity for dialogue with local high schools, to inspire young people towards new perspectives.
Finally, on Thursday 12 December, the Primary School will conclude the event with “It's time for… Emotions”, a multidisciplinary path that will combine reading, music, dance and technological innovation, accompanying participants on a journey through emotions.

The open week seems like a great initiative for the area and for the students, but I hope that parents will also be involved. It is important that everyone participates and can see what the children do at school.
