Carabinieri vice brigadier Giovanni Russo underwent a delicate reconstruction operation with thoracic aorta endoprosthesis. The operation was successful, but the danger to his life has not yet been ruled out.
Russian, 53 years old, originally from Pomigliano d'Arco, was seriously injured ferito this morning, December 6, around 9 am, during an operation in San Giovanni a Teduccio, eastern suburbs of Naples.
While he was on a canopy, this suddenly gave way, causing him to fall from several meters high. The carabiniere suffered serious internal injuries and multiple fractures, and the next few hours will be crucial in evaluating his clinical progress.
Rushed to theHospital of the Sea, the soldier underwent surgery to reconstruct his thoracic aorta. At the end of the surgery, he was transferred to the intensive care unit. In the next few hours, further tests and CT scans will be performed to monitor injuries to the spleen and multiple fractures to the limbs and pelvis.
The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, expressed his closeness to the soldier through a message on X: "I am following with concern the conditions of the vice brigadier of the Carabinieri Giovanni Russo, who was injured in a serious accident while on duty in Naples. My deepest sympathies go to his family, his colleagues and the entire force."
Even the Army Corps General Salvatore Luongo, General Commander of the Carabinieri, addressed words of support: "The entire force gathers around Vice Brigadier Russo and his family in this difficult moment, expressing deep gratitude for his commitment to serving the community. The General Commander has ascertained, through the Interregional Commander Ogaden, General of the Army Corps Marco Minicucci, of the soldier's conditions, verifying that all the necessary resources have been made available to guarantee him the best possible care".
