A daring escape, which ended with an arrest, animated the streets of the Sorrento Peninsula. A 20-year-old, Ferdinando Cerbero, originally from Ercolano and already known to the police, was arrested for aggravated theft after stealing a scooter and trying in vain to escape.
The incident occurred in broad daylight, when the owner of a shop selling traditional food products, suspicious of the noise of the engine, noticed that someone was taking away his scooter, a white Honda SH.

The Operations Centre immediately raised the alarm, alerting the patrols of the Sorrento Company and setting in motion a network of checks along the main escape routes in the area. In the meantime, an officer of the Sorrento Municipal Police, on duty between the municipalities of Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento, noticed a young man on a white scooter who, speeding at full speed, had hit his service vehicle, losing control and ending up badly on the ground. Despite the fall, the thief had gotten up and continued to flee on foot.
Thanks to the promptness of the officer, who provided 112 with the license plate number and a detailed description of the criminal, the search was concentrated in the reported area. The same officer did not hesitate to chase the fugitive, coordinating with the Carabinieri patrols. The manhunt ended quickly. In a few minutes, the police identified Cerbero, now with no way out, and blocked and handcuffed him. The young man was taken to the barracks, where he was formally arrested for aggravated theft. He is currently under house arrest awaiting trial.
