CASAGIOVE – A denied request for money has triggered yet another episode of domestic violence. A 55-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon by the Carabinieri of the Casagiove Station after attacking his elderly mother, hitting her on the cheekbone and repeatedly pushing her to obtain 20 euros.
The woman, 75 years old, living with her son, exasperated by the aggressive and violent behavior that had been going on for some time, found the courage to ask for help by calling the emergency number 112. The military intervened promptly, surprising the man still intent on railing against her, angrily demanding the sum of money. At the sight of the Carabinieri, the elderly woman burst into tears of relief, begging for help and confirming that she could no longer sustain the constant economic requests of her son, which in recent months had become increasingly pressing.
Despite the military's invitation to calm down, the 55-year-old continued with his aggressive behavior, forcing the police to stop him to secure him. The woman, taken to the barracks to formalize the complaint, said that the refusal to give in to the blackmail of those 20 euros had triggered the violence.
Emergency medical personnel, called by the Carabinieri, found the woman suffering from blunt trauma to her left cheekbone, a result of the attack. After receiving initial treatment, the victim was referred to a violence prevention center for psychological and legal support. Her son, already known to law enforcement, was arrested and taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison .
