The Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia had a singular experience with its director, also known for being an airline pilot. During a flight to Paris, the orchestra members traveled under the guidance of the famous director, who brought the plane to its destination in the French capital. The unusual context prompted the first flute, Andrea Oliva, to give the passengers an impromptu performance, a tribute to the director.
A musical welcome to Fiumicino
Not only the skies saw music and surprises. At Fiumicino airport, once landed from Paris, the conductor-pilot was welcomed by a small representation of the orchestra who chose to pay homage to him by conducting a short piece for the waiting passengers. This musical preview preceded the departure of the flight to Paris, piloted again by the conductor.
Destination Paris: Music and Harmony
The whole experience culminates with the orchestra's concert at the prestigious Paris Philharmonic. Under the direction of the maestro-pilot, the musicians will perform a program full of works by Debussy, Brahms and Prokofiev, marking one of the stops on their European tour. A unique fusion of musical talent and flying skills, which made the trip to the French capital an unforgettable experience.
