Pizzeria Oliva da Carla e Salvatore celebrates 10 years with 500 free pizzas for the Rione Sanità

The beating heart of the Rione Sanità is preparing for a special celebration. Wednesday, December 4, from 11:00 to 13:00, the historic pizzeria Olive from Carla and Salvatore will celebrate its tenth anniversary by giving away 500 pizzas to neighborhood residents. A gesture of gratitude and love toward the community that has seen this business born and grow, becoming a gastronomic and social reference point.

Among the pizzas offered, the famous fried pizza stands out Donna Sophia, a tribute to the iconic Sophia Loren who played the pizza chef in the 1954 episode Pizzas on credit film The gold of Naples by Vittorio De Sica. Made with light pasta and stuffed with ricotta, salt and pepper, the Donna Sophia embodies the tradition of post-war Naples, when women fried pizzas in the streets to support their families, in a context of reconstruction and resilience.

The pizzeria, located in Piazza Sanità in front of the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità – known as the Church of San Vincenzo 'O Munacone for the statue of the saint kept inside – is managed with passion by Carla and Salvatore, children of the neighborhood. “We grew up on these streets – the owners say – where life and death coexist over the centuries, between Totò's house, the catacombs of San Gaudioso and the Fontanelle cemetery. It is a neighborhood that has given us so much, with its humanity and its desire for rebirth. Celebrating these 10 years with the neighborhood seemed like the right way to thank everyone.”

The pizzas will be prepared during the event by Ciro and Armando, their sons, who continue the family tradition under the watchful eye of their parents. With dedication and professionalism, they carry on the art of pizza passed down from their grandfather, helping to keep the spirit of Sanità alive. “We want to share this celebration with everyone – conclude Carla and Salvatore – It will be a moment of unity, of community, of pride for what we are and for what, together, we can still become.”
