Carabinieri from the mobile radio unit in Pozzuoli, in the province of Naples, arrested two men on charges of attempted extortion. The detainees, a 46-year-old and a 35-year-old affiliated with the Longobardi Beneduce clan, were accused of lending money to a local businessman at usurious terms.
The matter was further complicated when the entrepreneur, unable to repay the loan as agreed, was approached by the two arrested men outside his home. Prior to this meeting, it was reported that the two men had made death threats.'entrepreneur.
The Carabinieri's timely intervention prevented the situation from escalating, allowing the individuals to be arrested before they could attack their debtor. Those arrested are now in custody, at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
