Yesterday afternoon, the State Police arrested a 29-year-old originally from Ghana on charges of robbery, resisting a public official and damage. The man, an illegal immigrant on the national territory and with a police record, was stopped by agents of the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station in Naples.
The intervention took place in Capuano Square, where a woman in an evident state of agitation stopped a patrol on duty to control the territory. The victim said that, shortly before, the man had asked her for alms and then threatened her with a knife, in complicity with two other individuals. The three had stolen her purse and necklace.
The officers intervened immediately, managing to block the 29-year-old despite his resistance. His accomplices, however, managed to disappear without a trace.
While being escorted to the Police offices, the young man went on a rampage, causing damage to the furniture and the front door. Investigations are continuing to identify and track down the other two subjects involved.
