New physical problems for Kylian Mbappé, protagonist of a complicated start to his adventure at Real Madrid. The French striker suffered a lesion to his left thigh during the 3-2 Champions League victory against Atalanta, a match in which he had scored the opening goal before being forced off in the first half.
The Spanish club confirmed the injury through a short official note: “Following tests carried out today on Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a lesion in the thigh of his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”
The absence of Mbappé represents a significant loss for Los Blancos, who face Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday with a chance to temporarily move top of the table. However, the striker is almost certainly out for that game and also remains a serious doubt for next week's Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar, where Real Madrid take on either Pachuca or Al Ahly.
