Richard Gere, during his appearance on "Che tempo che fa," shared a special affection for Italy, declaring, "I love Italy; if I could, I'd be Italian." The actor recalled his childhood "dream," recounting how, as a young man in his small town in upstate New York, Italians were considered the "coolest" kids.
Gere added: "I grew up in a small town in upstate New York, the only cool kids were the Italians, very elegant, with amazing shoes, they had this way of carrying themselves.

It's interesting how Richard Gere talks about Italians and his childhood. However, I think that the vision he had as a young man can be a bit idealized. Every culture has its beauties and flaws.
